In 2010, Greenrock began a pilot project with Elliot Primary to understand how a Bermuda school can 'go green' and how the community can get involved. There are many excellent international resources for 'Green Schools' but many recommendations are not applicable to or available in Bermuda. The Green School Project has drawn on international resources such as FEE-International (Foundation for Environmental Education) and Green Schools Ireland, as well as LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) and local expertise , to put together a 'Green School Template'. The template will contain Bermuda specific information to be made available to all schools in September 2011.

April 22 is Earth Day a day which for more than 40 years has put the environment on our agenda. The wonderful thing about Earth Day is that it started as a grassroots effort (if you'll forgive the pun), born out of the activism of the 60s.

Why should we care about plastic? In early April the Bermuda Marine Debris Taskforce (of which Greenrock is a member) hosted a visit by Captain Charles Moore, founder of Algalita Marine Research Foundation and discoverer of the "Great Pacific Garbage Patch".

Friday June 8 is World Oceans Day and Bermuda has so much to celebrate: Our reefs are among the healthiest in the world, our turquoise ocean and pink beaches are the bedrock of our tourism industry and the sea is the foundation of our community and our culture.

It was with a sense of déjà vu reading The Royal Gazette recently when it was reported Bermuda is experiencing a drought and residents are once again being urged to conserve water.
