Things kicked off with the Government launch of e-Monday, which invited people to buy discounted goods from local firms online. The results of the Launch Pad contest were announced from Tuesday to Thursday on VSB.
This initiative by the Bermuda Small Business Development Corporation saw seven entrepreneurs compete for a start-up loan from one of the three main banks — HSBC, Bank of Butterfield or Capital G.
Four were successful — Michael Burke of The Greenhouse Bermuda; Jason Williams and Keidric Smith of A to B Delivery; Rene Hill, who hand-crochets scarves and accessories at Emily's Trading Company and Alex Jones of Super Creamer.
Ms Hill's Capital G loan will help her launch a website and hire Fairtrade producers in South America.
She said: "The yarn will be shipped from the U.S. and hand-crocheted by craftsmen and women in Chile, Guatemala and Peru.
"The scarves will then be shipped back to Bermuda and Amazon in the U.S. It aims to make sure the people producing them get a fair wage."
Wednesday saw the Rocket Pitch final at HSBC's Harbourview building.
There were 17 entrants for the contest, with prizes of $3,500, $2,500 and $1,500.
Each had to deliver a five-minute business pitch of ideas to a panel of judges.
The six finalists were John Narraway, Lyter Group; Sophia Cannonier, Conscious Birth Services; Sakeena Talbot, Virtual Office Management; Omari Dill, Utopia; Jason Williams, A to B Delivery and Kamilah Cannonier, Sweet SAAK Bake Shop.
Last night, Bermudians got the chance to offer ideas on sustainable transport.
The Innovation Tournament, at Heritage Worship Centre was organized by sustainable development charity Greenrock in partnership with the Department of Energy.
Government also teamed up with BELCO and the Youth Entrepreneurship Initiative for the BELCO Sustainability Challenge.
Senior school students were challenged to find new ways of harnessing sustainable energy, with prizes such as a $1,000 scholarship.
Kim Wilson, Economy, Trade and Industry Minister, said: "Bermuda's economic prosperity is founded on entrepreneurial vision, hard work and ingenuity, and this week's activities supports and sustains this important sector."
