A Ministry spokesperson said: “As all Christmas trees are shredded prior to composting, we’d like to remind the public to remove all tinsel, lights, ornaments and tree bags. This assistance will keep our staff safe from flying metal objects, protect valuable shredding equipment and allow the production of higher quality finished compost”.
The Marsh Folly Composting Facility accepts horticultural materials from households and commercial entities, composting approximately 16,000 tonnes of material annually. Finished compost surpasses the environmental standards set for EPA grade “A” compost and is available for free of charge to residents and businesses.
